  • Description

Tecna Scorpion Automotive Spot Welding Station

The Scorpion Spot Welder from Tecna (Italy) is a high-output resistance welding system designed specifically for vehicle body repair, panel work, and automotive fabrication. Combining high current output with multi-function capability, the unit is widely used in professional bodyshops for fast, controlled joining and repair of thin sheet steel panels.

    High Current Resistance Welding Performance

The Scorpion operates using resistance spot welding technology, delivering up to 6000A welding current for fast fusion of lapped sheet metal.

    • Maximum short-circuit current: approx. 6.4 kA
    • Maximum welding power: approx. 35 kVA
    • Nominal power: 8 kVA @ 50% duty cycle

    Multi-Function Automotive Repair Capability

The Tecna Scorpion is more than a conventional spot welder. It functions as a complete automotive repair station, supporting a range of bodyshop processes:

    • Resistance spot welding of sheet steel panels
    • Dent pulling using welded nails and washers
    • Panel shrinking using carbon electrodes
    • Attachment of studs, screws, and repair fixings
    • Localised heating for metal reshaping

    Dual Gun Configuration

The system is supplied with both single-sided and double-sided spot welding guns, providing flexibility depending on access and repair requirements:

    • Double-sided gun: traditional resistance spot welding of overlapping sheets
    • Single-sided gun: dent pulling, stud welding, and surface repairs

    Synchronous Timer & Process Control

A key feature of the Scorpion is its multi-function synchronous timer, which allows precise control over weld parameters:

    • Adjustable weld time (cycles and pulses)
    • Controlled current delivery
    • Consistent weld quality across repeated operations

    Designed for Automotive Bodyshops

Operating from a 400–415V three-phase power supply, the unit is engineered for professional environments:

    • Compact, mobile station design
    • Integrated accessory kit (electrodes, slide hammer, consumables)
    • Adjustable arm lengths (approx. 107–483 mm) for varied panel access
    • IP21 protection rating for workshop safety

    Key Technical Features

    • Output current: Up to 6000A
    • Supply: 400–415V three-phase
    • Max welding power: ~35 kVA
    • Duty cycle: 50% @ 8 kVA
    • Dual gun system (single & double sided)
    • Multi-function synchronous timer control
    • Supports dent pulling, stud welding, shrinking, and spot welding
    • Compact mobile unit with integrated accessories

The Scorpion Spot Welder is probably the best selling spot welding station in the small car bodyshop industry and has been around for a number of years.
