Spot Weld Drill Bit 8mm
- Description
Spot Weld Drill Bit 8mm, for drilling out Spot Welds on normal mild steel (not Boron).
How to Use a Spot Weld Drill Bit (AK4734)
1. Mark the Spot Weld Location
Identify the spot weld you want to remove (commonly found on overlapping automotive panels).
Use a punch to make a small indentation in the centre of the weld this helps the bit stay in place and prevents slipping.
2. Secure the Panel
Clamp or support the work piece so it doesnt move while drilling.
Ensure good access to the weld area.
3. Set Up Your Drill
Fit the AK4734 spot weld drill bit into a power drill (preferably a low-speed drill with variable speed control).
Use a slow to medium drill speed spot weld drill bits are designed to cut through the top layer only, not the lower panel.
4. Drill the Spot Weld
Position the bit on the centre mark and start drilling with light, steady pressure.
5. Separate the Panels
Once the spot weld is cut, use a panel separation tool, thin chisel, or seam splitter to gently pry apart the panels.
Repeat for each spot weld that needs to be removed.
6. Finish the Surface
After panel separation, grind or smooth the area if needed before re-welding, repairing, or replacing the panel.
