SIFALUMIN No.16 Aluminium Welding Rods High Strength Brazing and Repair

The SIFALUMIN No.16 rods are high-quality aluminium brazing rods designed for joining and repairing aluminium and aluminium alloys. Manufactured by SIF, these rods are trusted by professional welders and fabricators for their strength, versatility and ease of use.

Perfect for brazing aluminium sheets, castings, and extrusions, SIFALUMIN 16 rods provide excellent corrosion resistance and produce strong, clean joints without the need for flux in most applications.

SIFALUMIN No 16 Aluminium brazing rods contain 12% silicon. Ideal for low temperature brazing of aluminium. It has good mechanical properties, excellent corrosion resistance. Suitable for silicon bearing cast aluminium alloys and wrought alloys. Do not use if fabrication is to be anodised.

How to Use SIFALUMIN No. 16 Step-by-Step:

    • Clean the joint area thoroughly
Use a stainless steel wire brush or abrasive cloth to remove all oxidation, paint, grease, and dirt. Aluminium oxidises quickly, so clean it just before welding.

    • Use a neutral flame
Set your oxy-acetylene torch to a neutral flame. Avoid an oxidising flame to prevent contamination of the joint.

    • Preheat the base metal
Heat the aluminium evenly around the joint area. Don't melt the base metal let the heat come up gradually.

    • Apply the rod

Once the aluminium reaches the correct temperature, touch the rod to the joint area. The rod should melt onto the hot metal surface, not in the flame. Allow the molten alloy to flow into the joint by capillary action, fully covering the seam.

    • Cool and clean
Allow the joint to cool slowly. Remove any remaining flux residue with warm water and a wire brush.

Benefits of Using SIFALUMIN No. 16:

    • Clean welds with strong bonding High-quality results for light to medium-duty aluminium work

    • Good flow characteristics Helps rod spread evenly for neat, controlled joints

    • No need for TIG or MIG setup Just a gas torch and a clean surface

    • Portable and workshop-friendly Perfect for on-site aluminium repairs

    • Strong, corrosion-resistant joints Ideal for marine, automotive, and fabrication work

    Sold in 1kg packs.
