  • Description

Superon 309L stainless steel welding rods are MMA (manual metal arc) electrodes specially formulated for welding dissimilar steels, particularly stainless steel to mild steel, or joining low-alloy steels to stainless components. Known for their high - strength welds, excellent crack resistance and good corrosion resistance, these rods are widely used in maintenance, structural repairs, pressure vessels, and fabrication jobs where metals don't match.

Primarily designed for fabrication applications where tolerance to dilution is exploited in joining 410, 304, 321, 316 to mild and low alloy steels for brackets, stiffeners etc.  Also employed as a buffer layer on mild steels and used on clad plate applications extensively.  Similar cast and wrought steels can also be welded if the service conditions are below 400°C.  Has found its main usage in welding Cromweld CR12 for transportation construction. Superon branded, supplied in 2kg packs. German formula.

Benefits of Using Superon 309L Stainless Welding Electrodes:

    • Excellent Crack Resistance Superon 309L has a balanced chromium-nickel content, making it tough and ductile, with great resistance to thermal shock and stress related cracking.
    • Strong, Corrosion -Resistant Welds The weld metal offers solid resistance to corrosion, oxidation and scaling, even in high heat or chemical environments.
    • Smooth Arc with Low Spatter Easy to strike and control, Superon 309L rods provide a stable arc and smooth weld bead, reducing post-weld clean up time.
    • All Position Welding Capability These electrodes can be used in flat, vertical, overhead and horizontal positions, giving you flexibility for on site or in-shop work.
    • Trusted for Repair Work Perfect for maintenance welding, especially when the exact base material isn't known and for build up layers on worn components.
